Valkyrie was a six-year-old tortoiseshell cat, and she meant the world to me. She was always full of energy, letting me know when she wants to play or cuddle, and she brought so much joy to my life. Her favorite snack was dried minnows, and she hunted her favorite toy, an old shoestring, daily. Valkyrie was my only cat and I was so happy to be her mom.
Valkyrie was unusually lethargic and had no appetite one morning. After a visit to our primary vet, I learned her calcium levels were alarmingly low, and she needed to be rushed to an emergency veterinarian. Over the course of a few days it was found that her thyroid wasn't working properly and she had heart disease. Unfortunately, the treatment to bring her calcium up would only increase the strain on her heart and I made the decision that she find rest. I was with her during her final moments on Easter Sunday.
Her medical bills have become overwhelming. While I do have pet insurance, it won’t cover all of her treatment costs.
The funds raised will go directly toward Valkyrie’s emergency veterinary bills. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
