Hi, I'm Artem and I'm fundraising on behalf of my mom Tamara and her dog Valery.

Valery is a two and a half year old Great Dane / Black Lab mix who has recently suffered intervertebral disc disease, aka IVDD. Valery's case was more complex than most with her having three different sections of her lower spine affected. The severity of her case resulted in her needing an emergency surgery as well as a few weeks of in hospital recovery. She has gone from being one of the livliest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of being around to having her hind legs paralyzed for the time being, leaving her unable to walk on her own.

Valery is like another child to my mom. For the past two or so years now, they have been outside together everyday, both supporting one another. Through the ups and downs of the past two years, one of the main reasons my mom has been able to maintain hope is because of the love she has felt for and recieved from Valery. There was no other option but to operate when we learned of her condition, she is a member of the family like anyone else. Imaginably, that surgery has come at a very steep cost however.

The total cost of Valery's operation neared $25,000. We are working class people, as anyone can imagine, this isn't a sum that I or my mom happened to have on hand when it was suddenly time to operate on Valery. My mom has had to take this amount as a debt, one which will unfortunately only rise for the mean time as we put Valery through rehabilitation to help her start walking on her own again. Though my mom gets by, she is by no means well off and could use any help she can get during this time. Any and all funds collected through this fundraiser will be used to help pay off the initial cost of Valery's surgery along with additional costs of rehabilitation.
