Vale is a sweet, vibrant mini Guernsey goat who absolutely adores attention. She’s one of the sweetest goats I have ever owned and became a proud mom to a beautiful baby this year, whom she loves dearly. Whenever I’m out with her, she follows me everywhere, always curious about what I’m doing. Vale is so full of life, and it would break my heart not to have her around, trailing after me and bringing joy to our days. We love her deeply and want what’s best for her- she’s still so lively, even with just three legs.
Vale has always been a jumper- mini Guernseys have long, deer-like legs and are always leaping over something. The night she was injured, she jumped over an 8ft panel and got her leg stuck. We found her quickly, but she had already torn ligaments and broken the bone below her knee. Despite having all the food, room, and treats she could want, Vale loves her freedom and often roams outside her pen, only to jump back in to be with her friends. Now, she’s out full-time with a couple of her buddies, still adjusting to her new way of getting around.
These funds will help us give Vale the care she needs and allow us to choose amputation rather than euthanasia, which is sadly common for goats with broken legs. Goats are amazingly resilient, and Vale has already adapted to her three-legged life with her fourth leg splinted for now. All funds will go directly to her surgery and care at UC Davis large animal clinic, where we trust the team with our animals’ lives. I would love nothing more than to keep seeing Vale’s happy face each day, following me around the field and being part of our family.
I would so appreciate anything anyone can offer- if you can’t donate, I completely understand, and am grateful for any and all support.
