Help Val & Sunny move from LA to MO! After an emergency in 2022, we had to move in with family in conservative, small town Louisiana. Since then we have mostly had to remain closeted in order to find employment and what we have found pays below living wages. This, combined with health issues and our only vehicle breaking down this last year, has made it difficult to move out. We are being asked to move out or get a new vehicle & pay rent, which on our wages would make escaping this state impossible. With the current governor targeting trans and LGBT rights as an administration focus, we are concerned about our safety and continued mental & physical health. We have some savings but not enough to really feel secure in the transition. We have friends and community resources waiting for us in MO but we have to get there and house ourselves while we find new jobs. This money would go towards the uhaul, a potential/probable extended-stay hotel, apartment deposit, and a month of groceries in case we can't find work quickly enough.
