Hello, my name is Nan Allen. My sister Pam Kellermann and I are starting this GoFundMe for our sister Val Maki’s dog, Sadie. Unfortunately, during the chaos that led up to Hurricane Helene, Sadie ate part of a boot. This is very out of character for Sadie as she has never done anything like this before. Our sister and niece Chloe, were preparing the house for the hurricane and making arrangements to evacuate. The vet said that dogs will often act out of character in times of stress. Once our sister realized that Sadie had eaten the boot, she immediately reached out to find out what she could do. No vets were open because of the storm, so she was advised to give Sadie hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. She did this and believed that Sadie had thrown up the boot. Sadly, days after the next hurricane hit our sister’s area, Hurricane Milton, Sadie began acting very strange. Sadie was rushed to the vet and they soon found out that part of the boot was still inside her. She had an emergency surgery to remove the part of the intestine that the boot was located in. Happily, Sadie made it through the surgery and is now recovering. The surgery was necessary to save Sadie’s life, and this surgery came at a great expense to our sister. We would be so grateful for donations that could help with covering the expense of the surgery that saved our sister’s dog Sadie.
