To our beloved friends and family,
On Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, our dear friend Vahid noticed he was having respiratory issues, and was rushed to the hospital. After a series of bloodwork tests and ultrasounds, the nephrologist diagnosed him with a rare genetic disorder, stage 5 immune kidney disease. This condition caused a ripple effect of illness throughout his body, which went undetected for years. This led to chronic high blood pressure, which in turn has shrunk and scarred his kidneys beyond repair.
On Thursday, November 18th, the nephrologist requested immediate surgery which saved his life for now, but a transplant is imminent. The surgery was successful, but in order to maintain a normal healthy life, he must have kidney dialysis 3x a week until he hopefully finds a matching kidney donor. With the surgeries, hospital stays, dialysis, and medications, Vahid’s first bill alone was close to $30,000.00. More bills are on the way, as he needs to continue dialysis and still pay for his transplant.
Everyone who knows Vahid, or has even just had a chance to spend time with him, knows that he’s a genuinely good person. He’s lived a healthy lifestyle, which is why this comes as such a big shock to all of us. Vahid has helped a lot of people over the years and is a big part of the DC community. He’s played a pivotal role in bringing up a number of local artists, and giving them opportunities when other venues did not. It breaks our hearts to see Vahid go through this, but he’s a strong minded person with a positive attitude and we know that, together, we can help him get through this.
Please donate what you can. Any amount helps. No donation is too small and even if you can’t donate, please share and help us spread the word.
For someone who's always looked out for us, it’s time we look out for him. Thank you.
Much Love,
Rez & Misha
