That's what's happening to Vader's Bar & Deli, a one of a kind Olathe institution for over a decade. Despite our success and commitment to the community, the city has purchased our building, nullifying our lease extension through 2027. We're being forced out with zero compensation, leaving us with nothing but some beer signs and some booths.

The Story:

We have invested over $200,000 to revitalize downtown Olathe, creating a vibrant gathering place that brings people together. Our landlord, who offices next door to us, shared our vision for a thriving community hub. There was never any doubt about our mutual desire to stay long-term. But the city, exploiting a legal technicality, has taken away our future at this location.

We've survived against the odds – even though downtown Olathe was a ghost town, and through Covid, we remained dedicated to our hometown. Now, we face starting all over from scratch, a daunting prospect after 12 years of hard work. It is unjust to lose everything we've built due to no fault of our own.
