Please help me help my best buddy.

Hi, everyone. My name is Marielena. Today I’m asking for help keeping my best buddy alive and healthy. On 11 April 2025, I received a call from the boarding facility stating that there was a significant amount of blood in Vader’s kennel. I was out of town, so they rushed him to the vet for me, where bloodwork and x-rays indicated he most likely had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE). If not treated quickly, HGE can be fatal. He was hospitalized over the weekend and then again on Monday the 14th. He was SIGNIFICANTLY better, but then yesterday, the 15th, he threw up blood various times and still had black, tarry stool. We no longer think it’s HGE and could be something a little more serious. Repeat radiographs this morning indicate he may actually have a foreign body that was hidden the first time, with lots of gas and distention in the stomach.

We’ve racked up a bill of over $2k so far and as he goes into exploratory surgery this afternoon, it’ll be another $2-3k for the procedure plus postoperative care. Donations will cover all care, medications, and recheck exams.
