Utley is Olivia and Tyler’s sweet 8-month-old black lab, and he’s been through so much in such a short time. While visiting family in Pennsylvania for the holidays, Utley suddenly became very ill—he started vomiting and grew weak, which led Olivia to rush him to the emergency vet on Christmas Eve. The doctors discovered a severe blockage in his intestines and performed emergency surgery, finding that he was full of roundworms, even though he’d been on a dewormer and had negative fecal tests. We were told he would recover, and everyone was so relieved.

After returning home to Alabama, Utley seemed to be on the mend, but just a few days later, he began vomiting again. Olivia took him to their regular vet, where he received fluids and anti-nausea medication, and for a moment, it looked like he was improving. But yesterday, his condition worsened, and the vet recommended another trip to the emergency clinic. Scans showed another blockage—this time, not a total one, but enough to require a second surgery. Utley is now undergoing another operation, and our hearts are heavy with worry for him.

The cost of Utley’s care has quickly become overwhelming. Olivia has already maxed out her pet insurance from the first surgery, and now the expenses for this second emergency are adding up. The funds raised will go directly toward Utley’s surgery, hospital stay, medications, and the ongoing care he’ll need to recover.
