Help Us With Sustainable Farming

Hello,

My name is Stuart Damron, one of the founders of Peachy Sprouts . A group of veterans got together to build a microgreens farm in Stockbridge, Georgia. Our journey in 2023 has been phenomenal as we launched into the Decatur and Virginia Highlands markets, bringing highly nutritional foods to more people. Along the way, we ensured all of our containers and bags were compostable with our focus being on sustainability. We also use coco coir instead of peat as our primary growing medium. We found out later that worms love to live and eat coco coir! Our waste currently goes to local chicken farms in trade for eggs. Our next step in sustainability is vermiculture. Once this is completed we will begin hydroponics automation to reduce our water usage. Our internal budget allows us to complete the hydroponics automation so we are asking for a little help to kick off our vermiculture project in 2024. How will we use these funds?

Our process involves multiple microgreen harvests per week which will be fed into the vermiculture farm along with other organic waste from the farm. To consume this waste we will need the following:

After construction, it will take about 6 months for the worms to multiply to the point we can begin harvesting worm castings and integrate them into our weekly growth cycle. We will then be able to offer any surplus to other farmers or anyone growing an organic garden. We look forward to this project and thank you for your help in making this a reality!
