Hey, it's your old pal Joe. As most of you have probably heard, my good buddy Steve Burtman was severely injured in a violent criminal incident at his workplace. Steve suffered major injuries to his jaw and mouth that will require multiple reconstructive surgeries over the next few months, along with additional months of rehab and recovery. To everyone who knows him, Steve is basically everyone's best friend. To know him is to love him. He would do anything for his friends, family, or even someone he just met who happened to be in need. He is the funniest human I personally have ever met. He was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Lowell. He brings joy to everyone he meets.
Steve has a challenging road ahead. He, his wife, and his family will need a lot of support as he works through his recovery from this terrible incident. I have been asked by the Burtman family to manage this fundraiser, which will help defray his medical costs that aren't covered by insurance, along with other financial needs as he is likely to be unable to return to work for quite some time. I have set an initial goal of $25,000 for this campaign, but this may evolve as we learn more about the details of his condition and recovery timetable.
Please give whatever you can. As always with these things, every little bit helps, no matter how small the amount. Please also share this GoFundMe far and wide. The more visibility it gets, the better. Every little bit helps.
Updates on Steve's progress will be provided here as new developments become available.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity.
