Hi, my name is Camila, I’m 24. On October 18th, my mom, who was always so healthy, had a stroke. It was the most terrifying day of my life. She had 4 seizures, one which was on my lap on our way to the hospital.
We took her to the hospital and they diagnosed her with a stroke. On December 10th, my mom had a craniotomy where they removed 98% of the most aggressive and non curable type of brain tumor, a glioblastoma. She now has chemotherapy and radiation to go through to keep the remainder tumor at bay. She’s not allowed to work because of her treatment and her line of work, home inspector, could be dangerous at this point.
If that wasn’t enough, on December 27th I took my dad to the hospital. He had trouble breathing because of covid. His covid diagnosis led up to pneumonia and he’s been in the hospital since. Now he’s intubated.
It’s been over a month of his stay in the ICU at Advent Health Celebration and his medical bills are already coming in the mail every day. We are now waiting for him to be stable enough to be able to get a tracheotomy and once he’s released from hospital, he needs to go to a rehab facility to get occupational therapy, rehab physical therapy, speech therapy and respiratory therapy to get him out of the ventilator.
It’s been up to me and my sister, Julia, 22, to pay for the house bills and medical bills that come everyday.
Anything you can donate will help us pay for at least some of our bills that are pilling up.
My parents didn’t have health insurance before but they got it on January 1st.
thank you!!
edit: my dad was extubated on Feb 3rd and got a tracheotomy done
