Hi everyone,
This Tuesday while at the dog park, my sweet little pup Bluebird, got ahead of an extremely large stick that was thrown and ended up getting hit in the leg by it (Anybody who has met Blue knows how speedy and full of Blue Heeler energy she is). Immediately I could see that she was in an immense amount of pain. I immediately took her home from the dog park and at home I realized she couldn’t bear any weight in it and screamed every time she would move! Throughout the night she whimpered and she was still in the same if not worse shape in the morning, refusing both food and water and not being able to move from the bed, so I decided this was more than a bruise and took her to the vet.
After an big day at the vet for poor Blue, consisting of sedation and multiple X-rays, we finally got the news that Blue both of the bones in her left leg had been snapped in half! It was emotional to say the least.. After about 8 hours we were able to pick her up from with a splinted arm and the vet told me she needed to go to an orthopaedic surgeon to have plates and screws put in her bones for it to heal properly.
Unfortunately this surgery costs $4,200 on top of her already monstrous pile of vet bills from that day. We obviously had no choice but to do what was best for blue, so she went into surgery this Friday January 29th in Belleville. The surgeon and vet techs were lovely and I’m sure made it as painless as possible for Blue.
We currently are dealing with the recovery portion of her surgery right now and she is all casted up!
We are starting this GoFundMe in hopes that people may help us out with some of her vet bills that have accumulated as well as the bills that are coming up for her next 2 rounds of X-rays that are part of her healing process.
Our family is the last to ask for help especially financially but I am currently a student and it seems that this lockdown has hit a lot of people, including myself, pretty hard.
We just want blue to be back to the wild, sweet, adventure dog that we all know her to be!!❤️❤️
