Portishead Chess Club and our tutors, who teach chess in local schools and community projects, together with support from the Bristol & District Chess League, where many of our young players compete, are raising funds to bring Viper, our very own AI chess robot, to life!

Viper will be used at tournaments, school clubs, and community chess events across the region — giving everyone the chance to play, learn, and be inspired.

When there’s an odd number of players at a tournament, Viper will step in as the perfect opponent! It can be set to any playing level, making it a brilliant teaching tool and an exciting ambassador for junior chess.
