Help us Upgrade our Video Equipment and Promote the Pod!

Hey, I'm Duncan and I'm one 1/2 of the Dead Elephants Podcast. We started this podcast to create a space where we could have real faith based conversations on Taboo topics. We are about 1/2 way through our second season and currently looking to the future. We want to put better video out, during covid I was able to put together a pretty robust podcasting studio but I focused on sound rather than visuals. This has meant that we have been able to craft a relatively good sounds product, but visually we are missing the mark.

For future seasons we want to up our video game. So we've put together a budget for exactly what will make our future podcasts POP! We've been pretty passionate about remaining independent, team Jesus is really our strength. We are also passionate about have distinctly Australian voices for this faith based community.

So as we continue to build our podcast we're hoping you are willing to make a bit of a donation to fund the next season. Allowing us to put together better videos to go with our audio. Below is a breakdown of exactly what we are hoping to get.

Cameras:

Blackmagic Studio Plus Camera 4K: $2,495 each

Total for two cameras: $4,990

Lenses:

The cost of lenses can vary greatly depending on your needs and preferences. You may already have lenses that you can use with the Blackmagic cameras, or you may need to purchase them separately. A rough estimate for two decent lenses could range from $1,000 to $3,000.

Tripods and Mounts:

Tripods and mounting equipment will also vary in price depending on quality and features. A pair of decent tripods could cost anywhere from $200 to $800.

Switcher:

Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro: $895

This switcher allows you to switch between camera feeds, add effects, and control various aspects of your production.

Cables and Accessories:

HDMI or SDI cables, power adapters, memory cards, and other accessories will add to the overall cost. Depending on your specific requirements, budget an additional $100 to $500.

Total Rough Estimate:

Cameras: $4,990

Lenses: $1,000 - $3,000

Tripods and Mounts: $200 - $800

Switcher: $595

Cables and Accessories: $100 - $500

Total: Approximately $6,885 to $9,885

We want to break this up into stages.

If we raise....

Stage 1 - $2000

If through you partnership we can raise some money to put towards advertising and promotion of the podcast. This includes running some targeted ad campaigns to help us reach a wider audience on social media and podcast platforms.

Stage 2 - $4000

If we can get to this stage we'll use that money towards improving our video facilities so we can capture much better visuals from our dead elephants podcast. You can see the recommended camera above, if we hit this part of fundraising we'll add 1 camera to our media suite.

Stage 3 - $10000

If we hit this level, we can do everything! This will allow us to develop a professional recording rig, with some high quality equipment as well as creating a targeted ad campaign to grow our audience.
