We are Whiskers 'N' Beans, a 24/7 emergency animal ambulance run by two dedicated, registered veterinary nurses Ellie and Sarah. Day or night, weekends or holidays – if your pet needs urgent critical transport and care, we come.
After much deliberation and discussions with clients, we’ve made the decision to launch a Go Fund Me campaign. We want to be as clear as possible - we are neither a charity nor government-funded service. Although we charge for our services, most of our revenue is dedicated to providing high-quality care. Rather than taking full salaries, we reinvest in our service and always look for ways to upgrade our medical equipment.
We strive to offer exceptional veterinary care paired with hassle-free transportation services.
Why We Need Your Help
Our Journey So Far:
We are deeply grateful for the remarkable support we have received, which has enabled us to purchase a larger ambulance, much needed ventilator and installation of a rear cot seat. Your generosity has not only moved us, but it has also made a significant difference in our ability to help animals in need.
Our Commitment to Excellence
We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing the very best care for animals. Our dedication drives us to constantly improve our services and facilities, ensuring every animal receives the highest standard of treatment.
How Your Support Will Help:
Next on our list for outstanding care is:
• Installation of oxygen kennels; allowing animals to receive essential oxygen therapy in a calm and stress-free environment. This removes the need for nasal prong or mask oxygen delivery, which can often be frightening and distressing for the animals.
• We are seeking more advanced, life-saving equipment to carry on every call such as a respiratory monitor unit and an oxygen analyser to name a few. This will enable us to deliver enhanced critical care during transfers, utilising our expertise as qualified veterinary nurses to provide the best possible support in emergency situations.
• The addition of a second ambulance will increase our capacity to help more animals in need and allow us to expand our team, reaching and serving a wider area.
• Owning a second ambulance would relieve us of the necessity to take on locum shifts to cover personal expenses. Achieving self-sufficiency in this way would mean that we could dedicate ourselves fully to our work, improving our availability and ultimately helping even more animals.
We’ve made it our mission to be there for your pets when no one else can be; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
About us:
Launched in August 2024, we transitioned from permanent paid work to enhance our nursing skills and fill a gap in the veterinary industry. We transport critical patients to referral centres or specialized clinics who would otherwise likely be euthanized. These patients often need vital life support for travel, which we provide, mimicking hospital settings in the ambulance. We transfer critical patients often requiring oxygen or are under anaesthesia so they can receive lifesaving surgery or treatment.
We are one of only a few animal ambulances in the UK that provide this kind of service, and to the best of our knowledge, we are the first of its kind to be owned and run by veterinary nurses.
What makes us different from other providers, is, as veterinary nurses, we work with referring vets to discuss treatment plans. We are qualified to administer medications where deemed necessary. We do not require a vet to accompany us in order to provide life-saving care.
We have not yet come across another team like us!
We have both been in practice for over 15 years and can honestly say we think we have found our true calling!.
How You Can Help:
We realize it’s a lot to ask for donations while charging for our service, but our intentions are truly sincere—we just want to help. We’re not overflowing with self-funds, and whatever we can spare goes right back into the business. After each transfer, we think about what else could enhance the care we provide. Our first ambulance is almost complete with hospital-based equipment, though with treatments always evolving, there’s always something new to address.
Even the smallest contribution aids us in acquiring advanced equipment and ensures the continuation of this vital service.
What your donations provide:
- Vetronic ICON Oxygen Analyser £396.98
- Respivet Respiratory Monitor £511.66
- Built-in Shor-line Stainless Steel kennels from £2000+
This help provide a more secure travel environment for larger dogs. These kennels also have adaptable Oxygen therapy doors which would help give additional oxygen support to our patients and provides a clear view of the patient.
- Oxygen Therapy Door x 2 from £536.00 upwards per door
- Oxygen Therapy Supply Kit for door + £185.59
- Multiparameter monitoring £3,420.00, we can upgrade to a wall-mounted multi-parameter monitor that provides ECG, HR, RESP, NIBP, SpO₂, Dual TEMP, and EtCO₂ (Water Trap Sampling).
Our dream is to eventually have a fleet of animal ambulances to provide the very much needed assistance nationwide. We take desperate calls from all over the UK, which sadly, we are unable to help with.
We approached the larger van companies for sponsorship to fund the upgrade, however (understandably) they did decline.
