Help us treat Lando’s cancer
Donation protected
Hey Chucklefriends!. As many of you know, our cat Lando was recently diagnosed with sinonasal adenocarcinoma. After speaking with the oncology team at our amazing local veterinary specialty hospital, we have discussed our options for treatment and come up with an initial game plan. We are going to start out with a course of palliative radiation therapy, three sessions, with a CT scan prior to beginning radiation in order to map out the tumors in detail. The highly sensitive location of Lando’s tumor makes him a poor candidate for surgery, but radiation is often very effective at shrinking tumor and slowing down its regrowth. After his radiation is complete, we will discuss whether adding in chemotherapy makes sense.
Nikii and I feel good about this course of action. We know there’s no way we’re going to be able to cure Lando, but this is a way to buy him some good quality time with us and the treatment will not negatively impact his quality of life in any major ways. And he’ll get to make new friends at the vet office. Friends are his very favorite thing!!
His radiation oncologist, Dr. Hammond, sounds legitimately excited to meet him, and we like her very much indeed.
Y’all’s generosity enabled us to do the necessary tests and imaging to get Lando’s diagnosis. You have given more than we could ever have reasonably asked of you—but I’m here asking for more, because we received the estimate for his radiation therapy today and it’s a doozy. The low end of the estimate sits at $14,853.19, with the high end at $18,566.49. That $14,853 will be due on Monday, when Lando goes in for his mapping CT scan. Photos of the estimate are included below.

If you cannot afford to help, please don’t feel bad and please don’t feel compelled, but we know what it is to feel helpless, and we know how very much so many of you love our sweet Beeb. If you want to be a part of helping him have as much happy, comfortable time as possible to carry on beebing along beebily, this is the single most important way you can help.
I’m setting the goal at a whopping $20,000, somewhat above the high estimate. There are a few reasons for that. The first is that GoFundMe charges fees on each donation, so we receive less than it looks like we’re getting. The second is because the estimate covers only CT and radiotherapy and does not include the routine costs of Lando’s care, as well as the expenses we’re taking on ancillary to his cancer treatment, like purchase of supplies, special food, transportation costs, and missed work costs. Please, as ever, do not feel compelled—but know that if you can and want to help, our gratitude knows no bounds.
And above all, most important of all, please remember that Lando loves you to the moon and back—or he would, if he knew there was a moon, or indeed, what a moon is.
So do we.
