Help Us Treat Jackson's Severe Burns
Donation protected
On December 20th 2020 our indoor cat Jackson (2.5 years old) got outside and took a 3 mile drive in the hood of the car. This resulted in deep partial thickness to full thickness burns on approximately 30% of his body. We rushed him to Blue Pearl ER vet in Cobb where he stayed overnight. As his burns began to heal, it became apparent that the burns were much worse than was initially thought. The wounds on his upper back will have to be surgically closed, and he may lose his external ear (no hearing loss expected). His burns on his back flank and tail were deep enough to expose tendon and muscle. They will require special bandages and daily veterinary care until they heal enough for skin grafts. The skin grafts will need to be performed by a specialist at a veterinary hospital such as UGA, Auburn, or Blue Pearl. He may also need further surgeries/ therapy depending on how he heals. His vet ( New Georgia Animal Hospital) said it will cost several thousand dollars, but expects he will live a normal happy life so long as he receives treatment. He has been such a fighter and a love during all of this. He is eating vigorously by himself, grooming, and purring happily when petted. Please help us fight for our baby! Any amount helps. And please remember to always check the hood of your car before driving! A lot of cats will seek warmth by sleeping on the engine.
