My name is Patrick Angala, and I humbly invite you to join us in changing the lives of hundreds of vulnerable children in rural Northern Uganda.

In 2012, the community of Alia Village, located in Apoi Parish, Apac District, approached me with a heartfelt request. At the time, there was no nearby nursery school for young children in the area. Parents watched helplessly as their children grew up without access to early education because the nearest schools were too far away and inaccessible.

Since I was mostly living in town and rarely using my village home, the community asked if I could allow the children to study there temporarily. I gladly accepted.

What began as a small act of compassion with only 30 children learning under very humble conditions slowly grew into something much greater than we ever imagined.

Today, that small nursery initiative has grown into Nimaro Nursery and Primary School, a beacon of hope for one of the most isolated communities in Northern Uganda.

Over the last three years alone, the school has successfully sent more than 40 children to secondary school after sitting for their national examinations. Many of these children are the first in their families to ever reach that level of education.

But despite this progress, our journey has been filled with enormous challenges.

Alia Village is surrounded by swamps and cut off from many basic social services. Due to its remote location, the community has largely been neglected by local government support. Families survive mainly through small-scale fishing using local canoes, and most households struggle with extreme poverty.

The community depends on unsafe swamp water for daily use, and many children study in overcrowded classrooms with limited learning materials. The school itself has survived largely through my personal savings and the kindness of a few well-wishers.

Today, we are reaching out to the world for help.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise between $50,000 and $100,000 to help us expand and improve the school so that every child in this forgotten community can learn in safety, dignity, and hope.

Our Vision for the Future

The funds raised will help us develop the following critical projects:

1. Expansion of Classrooms and School Desks

Many children currently learn in overcrowded classrooms with inadequate seating. We hope to build additional classrooms and provide enough desks for every learner.

2. Boys’ and Girls’ Dormitories

Safe dormitories will help children who travel long distances through difficult and unsafe routes, improving attendance, safety, and academic performance.

3. Construction of a School Library and Digital Learning Center

Books and learning resources are extremely limited in this rural community. We want to build a library that will inspire reading, learning, and discovery.

We also plan to introduce pre-recorded educational video lessons from some of the best-performing schools to help improve the quality of teaching and learning for both pupils and teachers. To make this possible, we need screens, solar batteries, and digital learning equipment.

4. Teachers’ Houses

Because the school is located in a remote area, many teachers struggle to stay due to lack of accommodation. Building teachers’ houses will help us attract and retain qualified educators.

5. Access to Clean Drinking Water

The community currently relies on unsafe swamp water. Access to clean water will greatly improve the health and well-being of both children and the surrounding community.

6. Solar Power Installation

Electricity is not available in the village. Solar power will provide lighting for evening studies, improve school security, and support modern learning technologies.

7. Sustainable Poultry, Fish, and Irrigation Farming Projects

We want to create sustainable income-generating projects that can support school feeding programs and help reduce dependence on school fees from families living in extreme poverty.
