HELP US TO SURVIVE - 32 PUPPIES NEED YOU!!!

This is an unexpected, desperate and urgent appeal for help. We are at breaking point and have no idea how to move forward as a rescue.

We currently have 32 puppies in our care. This is a number we’ve never experienced and we have no idea to handle the demand this will put on our funds as a small rescue.

When 16 babies come into the pound, you can’t help but feel desperate, sad and overwhelmed all at once. It’s so disheartening to see that people still don’t take responsibility for the spaying and neutering of their dogs, and this is the result. Puppy after puppy being abandoned, totally defenseless, confused and scared, but looking away and leaving puppies in the pound is not an option. They don’t have the physical resilience and absolutely no socialization or space to move and grow stronger while there. On the other hand we are a very small rescue of only 3 people and of who just one person is local and we knew we wouldn’t be able manage this. We knocked on many doors and ask for help to other rescues which we knew and two came forward. They agreed to take responsibility for them and pay while in boarding kennel. Two days before the transport to the boarding kennel was arranged one of the rescues contacted to cancel the transport. We informed the other rescue about it and they didn’t want to leave the other puppies behind and agreed to take them too. Last week 11 puppies left the pound and were brought to the boarding kennel, but yesterday we received the most devastated message. The rescue received an emergency call from an animal hoarding case with about 20 dogs in very bad conditions and informed us that they weren’t anymore in the situation to help in anyway. This news caught us completely off guard. Apart from Tea, Maca, Triana and her 5 puppies, who we took out of the pound about 1 month ago, Colin, Trufa and her six puppies, who we rescued from the street, and the last 5 puppies who are just a few days old and are nursed by hand, we now also have 11 puppies in boarding kennels, and this will come with a monthly cost for 50,- € each one. Without counting the costs for transport, veterinary and special food.

Our last litter of puppies (Clara’s puppies) spent many months, and the last ones even almost 1 year in the kennels, with the last two boys traveling only recently to their homes in the UK.

We have no words to describe this whole situation and how deeply desperate, powerless and frustrated we feel.

We really try to do our best with what we have and help as many dogs as possible with our limited resources, but the situation is getting worse and worse every time and now the most recent news has taken away our life raft leaving the dogs and us in the big ocean by our own. We are realistic and know that this situation is putting all the dogs who are out of the pound and in our care at risk. However, we don’t have a plan B so that we will put all the will and strength we still have, to go through it and hope and pray that with your support and contribution we will be able to survive and reach the coast. It will be a very long journey that is why we apart of one-off donations which are very much appreciated and needed, we desperately need ongoing support- in the form of sponsors or long distance adopters, who can help us monthly to cover the costs of boarding kennel fees, transport, vaccinations and microchipping. While any donation is very gratefully received, we really need to increase the number of long term donors, who can give a little each month to help us plan for and cover the eventuality that they puppies may have to stay in kennels for many months or need unexpected vet care.
