Help us to save Pogo's life

Hi, my name is Caroline and I am raising funds to save the life of a dog we rescued this week in Qatar.

Meet Pogo.

He is a street dog in Qatar and he has had the worst week of his life.

We were called to pick up an injured dog from the industrial area. This place is full of street dogs who live amongst the factories, workers and endless trucks. We were given the location and told the dog had been there since he was hit by a truck three days before.

When we arrived we thought it was too late. We found a lifeless looking dog slumped against a wall.

As we approached we realized that he was still alive.

Surrounded by food he didn’t want to eat, he lay, waiting to die.

Both of his front legs were badly broken, the bones were visible sticking through the skin on each leg. Despite this, as we tried to pick him up, he attempted to stand on those same broken legs to escape. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen.

With the aid of nothing but a towel, we eventually managed to get his broken body into the car and we set off for the vet.

After an initial assessment and x-rays, we left him at the hospital for the night to be stabilized.

Today we took Pogo to a specialist orthopaedic surgeon who assessed the damage to his legs and has suggested that it might be possible to save his left leg, whilst the right leg is beyond repair and will likely have to be amputated.

The surgery to try and save the better leg needs to be done as soon as possible to give the best chance of success.

The sticking point is the cost.

The estimate for the life saving surgery he needs is 8000 qatari riyals, that’s just over 2000 us dollars. The surgery on the other leg can wait but that is also going to be over 1000 dollars.

Without the funds for the surgery he has no hope and no future. It’s so sad that it comes down money but that is unfortunately the way things are.

His care to this point has been covered but as I write this, there is a slot available for the surgery in 2 days, on 8th September. But this can only happen if we have secured the funds.

If you can spare anything at all, please help.

Whatever you can give will get us closer to saving this poor baby’s life. He came so close to death once already, please help us to give him the chance of life.
