Hi, we are raising this fund raiser for our friend Kamal.
My name is Mansimrat, and I am a close family friend of Kamal. I have created this fundraiser on behalf of his family during this incredibly difficult time to help bring him home to Haryana, India. All funds raised will be used solely for the repatriation of his body and the related expenses.
Our hearts are broken as we share the devastating loss of our dear friend, who tragically passed away in a drowning accident at Bevermead Park in Peterborough, Ontario, during what was meant to be a joyful camping trip with friends.
In December 2023, he left his home in India with big dreams and the hope of building a better future in Canada. Like so many international students, he made countless sacrifices, leaving behind his family, friends, and everything familiar to pursue new opportunities.
He began his journey as a student at Loyalist College, determined to work hard and create a successful life. After completing his studies, he applied for his work permit, which he had only recently received—a milestone that marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his life.
He made his home in Markdale, Ontario, where he worked tirelessly to build a future. Throughout his time in Canada, he worked long hours as an Amazon delivery driver before proudly beginning a new career as a welder just a few months ago. He was excited about the opportunities ahead and was determined to create a better life for himself and his family back home. He was hardworking, humble, kind-hearted, and always willing to help others. His determination and positive spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Tragically, his life was cut short just as it was beginning to flourish. On what was supposed to be a peaceful camping trip with friends, our lives changed forever. During our visit to Bevermead Park in Peterborough, he tragically drowned, leaving us all in shock and unimaginable grief. He was only 23 years old and was looking forward to celebrating his 24th birthday next month. His family never imagined that instead of celebrating another year of his life, they would be preparing to say goodbye.
We are raising funds to help cover the costs of repatriating his body to his hometown in Haryana, India, so that his parents, family, and loved ones can see him one last time and give him the farewell he deserves according to their traditions. The funds will also help cover funeral-related expenses and the significant costs associated with international transportation, documentation, and other necessary arrangements.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help bring him back to his family during this incredibly difficult time. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more to us than words can express.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at (705) [phone redacted].
Thank you for helping us honor his memory and bring him home.
