Help Us To Help Daniel Fight Leukemia
Donation protected
Hello, to all! My name is Linnea Rae Kolschefski and I am hoping to raise funds for my little brother, Daniel Ray Kolschefski, who is 11 years old, and was diagnosed with Leukemia in January of 2021. Daniel has been fighting leukemia and all the extra struggles that come along with it, ever since. Let me tell you a little bit about it.
On January 26th, our mother took Daniel to the doctor, not knowing what to expect. In the weeks before, Daniel had lost his his energy and his happiness and joy, his color in his skin had turned to gray, he was constantly sleepy and couldn’t stay awake in school, he missed several days of school, and when he did go to school, he came home and slept the rest of the day, he was presenting symptoms of a winter cold that just wouldn’t go away, he had severe bloody noses, he appeared to have bruises all over his body, and the list goes on and on. Like I said, our mother took him to the doctor on January 26th, 2021. From what my mother told me, the nurse and doctor took one look at Daniel and said, “that boy has leukemia.” They did blood tests and immediately, the tests confirmed what they already knew. Daniel was diagnosed with leukemia and immediately the same day within a few hours, he was hauled by ambulance to Fargo to be taken care of properly. He was immediately given many pints of blood and platelets that he needed because the cancer had completely eaten up all his good blood cells. He was also immediately started on medication for his leukemia and the doctors took all the necessary steps and precautions to care for Daniel and his specific diagnosis. We were all heartbroken, scared, angry, etc…. We didn’t know why this was happening to our sweet boy, but we tried our best to have faith and trust that God had a plan. Daniel spent his 10th birthday in the hospital but not without a smile on his face, because that’s the kind of kid our little fighter is.
Much time has passed and it’s been anything but easy for Daniel and also for our family. We have faced many roadblocks throughout this time, such as: Daniel being sick for 2 months with a virus and then another month with the Covid, Daniel’s liver completely failing, Daniel being stuck in the hospital due to lack of blood, mouth/throat soars, Daniel having a spine fracture, Daniel having constant fevers, etc… and the list goes on and on.
Fast forward to the present time, and our little fighter is doing better than before, but still fighting every single day, to get better and get back to the healthy, happy little man that he used to be and deserves to be.
After a long year of living in Fargo, Daniel finally got to come home. Now, Daniel and our parents go to Fargo for his chemotherapy once a month. However, it hasn’t always been this way. The doctor bills have piled up, and the expenses to travel and to stay in Fargo, have become insane. What I’m asking from you, is to please, if you can find it in your heart, please help us in any way that you can, even prayers are much needed and appreciated. Financially, my family is struggling and doing their best to just live day to day. We will take any help we can get and we thank you so much for whatever you can possibly do for us. Our family doesn’t take this lightly and are so grateful.
I will do my best to update you all, as often as I can, on Daniel’s progress. Thanks again, so much.
With love,
Daniel’s big sissy
