In short
Help us to raise €63.000,- for a village in Uganda called Welle. With this amount we can provide all the inhabitants with a basic income for a period of one year.
The journey
We are going to cycle from the Netherlands to Bali, Indonesia. 15.000 km of pedaling, self sustaining by bike, crossing more than 25 countries, two continents and a lot of tears. We aim to make it in 1 year without any flight, however with the pandemic and difficult political situations in several countries, this is not fully in our hands.
We support INclusion
INclusion is a Dutch organization on a mission to combat the injustice of chronic poverty in a sustainable and structural way, by enabling active solidarity between people worldwide and by guaranteeing the fulfillment of everyone's needs with an unconditional income. Their first pilot project focuses on the village Welle in Uganda and already shows promising results. Plans are being made to spread to other countries such as Bangladesh.

Why inclusion?
We believe in the principles of basic income. Meaning that providing a steady monthly income can take away some of the concerns and stress that poverty brings. Thus creating more headspace for people to become more entrepreneurial and long term oriented. This stimulates a local economy from the bottom-up and can have a sustainable positive effect.
We wish that we could have a basic income for ourselves, but unfortunately that is not going to happen for the time being. The idea of contributing to realizing a basic income for people who really need it, fills our hearts with joy.
Also we want to make sure that from the money we collect, as much as possible goes to the people who need it. INclusion aims at a 90% conversion rate which means that 90% of the donations to INclusion go straight to the beneficiaries.
How does it work?
The idea is quite simple: we take two bikes, survival gear and some cameras and we start cycling. We film and track our progress and update this to our website (bikingforbetter.com) and social media channels #bikingforbetter. We try to attract as much attention as possible and trigger people to donate. This way our adventure will help some of the poorest people in the world to a better future.

Who are we?
We are Malte and Olmo and we have been friends since high school. After high school we went studying in different cities. Malte ended up in Berlin and Olmo in Rotterdam. The past few years we’ve been busy working up to a point where we started asking ourselves more and more questions. Is this it? What am I actually doing? What is my purpose? Is it really meaningful what I’m doing? Questions that lead to a growing urge to really contribute something to a bigger picture. We decided that it was time for change. Also, having spent most of our time behind laptops for the past couple of years, adventure was calling us. So we started this project…
