While driving home on the afternoon of December 3rd, 2025, I received a phone call from my recruiter that my contract had been terminated with the school I had been employed with for the last three months. I was a paraeducator for a behavioral school in the Arlington school district. No notice. No wrongdoings on my part. No goodbyes. I was told that yesterday was my last day, effective immediately. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one who lost their job. Several of my fellow coworkers, that were also contracted, were also terminated. The reasoning was there weren't enough students to justify 1:1s anymore, and that they would be rehiring internally.

I am so sad and so frustrated. This has taken me completely off guard and now I'm even more in a financial struggle as I try to figure out the next step. I can't believe they decided to do this to us three weeks before Christmas, and just several days before my 31st birthday. The money that I am asking for will help with bills, loss of wages, help supporting my lovely husband and our son, and our silly Italian greyhound.
