Hi everyone — this is incredibly hard for me to write, but I’ve reached a point where I have no other options.

On Friday, I suddenly lost the ability to walk on my own because of severe weakness. I was taken to the ER and admitted for several days while doctors ran extensive imaging and testing. At this point, they believe I am experiencing a complex migraine disorder that is causing significant neurological symptoms — including weakness and the inability to walk. They were unable to get the migraine under control in the hospital and discharged me with an urgent referral to the Headache Clinic at University Hospital. There is currently no clear timeline for recovery, as they still don’t know what is causing the migraine or how long this episode will last.

Right now, I am homebound and using a walker and wheelchair. Home healthcare is coming in to help me try to regain some mobility, but until I can walk and function independently again, I need full-time care.

My husband, Ethan, has become my caregiver and is also caring for our high-needs kids around the clock. Ethan has been our family’s only source of income for a while, and with him unable to work, we’re struggling to stay afloat. He doesn’t have PTO available, and the only option his job offers is an unpaid leave of absence. With bills, medical needs, and the holiday season approaching, we are overwhelmed and scared about how to support and feed our family through this unexpected crisis.

We are hoping and praying that this will only last a few weeks — just long enough for me to regain strength and get back to caring for myself and our kids. But in the meantime, we need help. Truly, anything helps. Whether it’s $5, sharing this page, prayers, or simply keeping us in your thoughts, it all means more than we can express.
