My partner and I have both faced serious medical challenges recently. After my partner was hit by a truck, he needed spinal fusion surgery, and I was injured at work twice. Right now, we’re waiting for my social security and our food stamps to come through, but we’re almost out of food for ourselves and Frieda, our beloved companion. We’re also nearly out of propane, which means we’re close to losing heat, hot water, and the ability to keep our home clean. Our truck is out of gas, and we need it to get to medical appointments and run essential errands. On top of that, we’re struggling to keep up with our truck payment and utilities.
