I'm 67. Two and a half years ago, I was told I have stage 5 kidney disease. I need to start dialysis and have a kidney transplant to live. My whole world changed.
My life partner and I are raising our great niece. She is now 9, but we have had her since she was 9 months old. I was working 2 jobs and was the snack mom for her Girl Scout troop. Suddenly, I'm too sick to stand or even get out of bed. After some dialysis treatments, I got some strength back and was able to return to work. My main job let me go, saying my position had been filled. Devastated, I was able to return to a previous full-time job, but because of my disease, I was not very dependable, so they let me go, saying work was slow anyhow. My part-time job became my main income.
My rent is 2 months behind, and I am looking at bankruptcy. But by God's goodness, I have a surgery date of January 14th, 2026. My donor is a very healthy 26-year-old young man who happens to be the father of the sweet little girl I have the blessing and privilege of raising. Anyhow, as hard as it is to ask for help, I am asking. Thank you and God bless.
