At Finca Ganadito, we think kids should leave school with all the skills they need to grow their own tasty, organic food. Shouldn’t this be part of the syllabus in every school?
We’ve reached out to the local primary school and committed to build them a greenhouse and vegetable garden and deliver a series of workshops and activities throughout each school year.
We’ve developed all the know-how at the Finca as our Regenerative Agriculture program goes into its fifth year. We have the staff and retreat participants ready to work, and the school board and students are SO excited about the activities. But we need some help to build essential infrastructure, as our bamboo structures just don't last long enough with the humidity.
What will we deliver?
Friday morning workshops and games with the students focused on:
Composting, capturing microorganisms, making fertilizer, producing soil, germinating and planting, tree and plant care, harvesting and processing, nutrition, oil and soap making, sustainability and climate change.
What do we need help with?
Materials and labor to build:
Two greenhouses – one at the Finca (12 m X 8 m) and one at the school (6 m X 3 m)
Raised wooden planting boxes
Composter
That’s it! We’ve got the rest covered, and we’ll contribute manhours and money to the program all year round.
Would you be willing to help us with the materials and labor to get the ball rolling? Thanks so much!
Pura vida!
