Help Us Finally Buy Our First Home
By Joseph Shaw ( Jojo ). .
We have been approved for a 4br/2ba home through owner financing and we need $15,000 down but could only come up with $5,000. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for personal loans (we have tried). We don't qualify for down-payment assistance ( we have tried ).
Hello, my name is Joseph Shaw, and I want to share something deeply personal with you all.
My family and I have spent our entire lives renting. House to house, year after year, packing up, moving, starting over again. We’ve always done what we could to make each place feel like “home,” but the truth is, it never really felt permanent. There’s always that voice in the back of your mind saying, “This isn’t really yours. One day, you’ll have to leave.” That kind of constant moving around leaves you longing for stability—a place where you can truly plant your roots.
For years, we’ve dreamed about buying our first home. Not a mansion, not something fancy—just a place we can finally call ours. A place where we don’t have to worry about the lease ending, the rent going up, or being told we have to move out. A place where our hard work can finally feel like it’s going toward building something lasting.
We’re a hardworking family. Everyone pulls their weight, and some of us work two jobs just to make ends meet. We don’t complain—we’ve always been grateful to have a roof over our heads. But owning a home has always felt just out of reach, especially with credit struggles and the challenges life throws at you.
Now, for the first time, it feels like we’re close. We’ve found an opportunity, and all that stands in our way is the down payment. $10,000 is what we need to finally cross that line into homeownership. That number may seem big, but we believe in the power of community, kindness, and small steps adding up. Even $20, $50, or $100 puts us one step closer to this dream. And if you can’t give, sharing this page with others would mean just as much.
I want to be clear: this isn’t about asking for handouts. This is about asking for a little bit of help in building something real for our family’s future. A safe, stable home where we can create memories, celebrate holidays, and finally know what it feels like to put down roots.
Every dollar, every share, every word of encouragement makes a difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story, and thank you to anyone who chooses to stand with us as we try to make this dream a reality.
With love and gratitude,
Joseph Shaw
