Help us take ‘Dreamliner’ to The Edinburgh Fringe

Hello, beautiful people of the world. We are the brand new theatrical company The Situationalists, and we are here to ask for your help in taking us and our brilliant play Dreamliner to the magical world that is Edinburgh Fringe! Some of you were fortunate enough to see Dreamliner as part of London's Act II and Homecoming festivals. This 5-night run has formed our surreal story into the psychological exploration of experience that it is today and we are super excited to take the new and improved version to the Fringe.

 

As a group of students, with plenty of brains and talent but very few financial resources, the cost of taking 8 (I know!) people all the way to far-flung Scotland, and sustaining them for 3 weeks across a 19 show run, is prohibitively expensive. That is why we are coming to you, the people of the world! We believe that art and performance are nothing without their audience. Sharing ourselves and our stories with you is the reason why we do this and the amazing reaction we have received for Dreamliner so far has only confirmed this.

For those of you who don't know, the Edinburgh Fringe is a month long festival held in the city of, you guessed it, Edinburgh! It is a celebration of up-and-coming theatre, comedy, performance art, and all manner of other weirdness. It is an amazing place to be a part of, when artists and audiences from all over the world converge to frolic and share. We hope to be a small part of it this August.

 We understand you'll have some questions. Like, "Why do you need £5000 to put on a play? Will they just be drinking away our charitable donations the entire time?" Whilst we would love to be able to sink £5000 worth of Scottish pints, the reality is far more boring. To ensure that the 60-seat venue we will be performing in doesn't make a loss, they require an upfront guarantee of £2700. There is also the cost of marketing the play to the lovely people of Edinburgh, and housing 8 people in a very overstuffed and price-inflated city. To take Dreamliner to the Fringe would be a dream come true for every single one of us. And we are asking you to contribute, in any way you possibly can, to help get us there. Though we would love to be able to offer crazy incentive rewards (we discussed flying all of you to Scotland but we thought that wasn't too environmentally friendly), our love and appreciation are about all we have.
