Disabled Couple Need Help Moving to a Safe & Accessible Home

Both my partner and I are disabled. I have aEDS, severe gastrointestinal problems, limited mobility, and Lipedema among other health issues which makes working a basic job let alone just trying to walk or stand very difficult. My partner has been dealing with severe chronic fatigue and we are currently having them tested for possible POTS.

We’ve been struggling for years with our health and our financial stability while I have been fighting to get disability assistance and they’ve been working with DVR to find a job that would accommodate them for the last year. We have been really fortunate to have received help from the community and from family up till now and we wouldn’t have a home still if it wasn’t for them. If it wasn’t for all of you.

I recently had my Disability Hearing and we were told by the end of the month that we would know whether I was approved or not. My lawyer said I did great and feels really positive, but even if I do get approved, I’d have to wait months just for the payments to come in. We do not have that luxury of waiting with bills piling up, repeated shut off notices, and no income coming in. Small Mutual Aids just won’t work anymore.

We are desperately asking for help to get us by the next few months, just until my Disability comes in. It has been years, YEARS, in struggling between Medical fat-phobia, neglect, and denials, and I cannot wait to say it is finally over and done with.
