Help us survive the Holiday Tree Disaster 2023
Donation protected
Hi, all - Jess, Brandon and Jack here. Many of you have heard that a tree fell on the house where we've lived for the past 9 years, and as of Monday Dec 18, we have not been able to stay in our apartment. It has been scary and exhausting, and Brandon has taken on the lion's share of this since I'm also still recovering from surgery. We have been struggling to get help and support from our landlord and things are a little unclear at the moment.
There will be construction on both the outside and inside of the house, and at least our bedroom as well as Brandon's office space will have to be worked on (ceilings, walls, floors from water as well as tree damage). Brandon has been working on saving our belongings from the mess, and making sure we're prepared for the construction. We need to clear much of the attic and 2nd floor for them to work.
So we do know that we will need to spend at least a couple weeks in an Airbnb that accommodates cats, close enough to the apartment to keep an eye on things, and with workspace for Brandon. We will also need to rent a truck and open a storage facility, and so, with ongoing unanticipated expenses - we could definitely use help from our community.
We are trying to keep things as low budget as possible! It's all pretty overwhelming right now to be honest, especially not being able to be in our home for Christmas.
Folks have been very kind reaching out and if some of you are able to help or even spread the word - it would greatly be appreciated!
