Help Us Support WHIMSY- a local year-round Harwich business for 13 years

A dedicated, Harwich women's clothing shop owner, Beth Pedicini needs our help.

An irresponsible driver crashed into and destroyed the wraparound porch of her historic building, putting her business and livelihood at risk. Together, we can help Whimsy rise up again. Please read the full story and donate to support her recovery and rebuild efforts.

Beth Pedicini is the Owner of Whimsy, a unique women's clothing and accessories boutique and gallery, located on Route 28 in Harwich.

Her year-round business supports thousands of clothing vendors, consignors and many Local Artists- all of whom supply her shop with a wide variety of clothing items, jewelry, accessories and unique treasures. Her boutique does more than offer women a wonderful place to shop, it also provides a service with special events, artist trunk shows as well as private shopping nights and fundraisers. For over 13 years, Beth has hosted well attended Winter Events where women can come sip, snack, shop and socialize while Local Artists display their handmade treasures for purchase.

On June 4th, 2024 a negligent, under insured driver lost control of his truck launched into the air, and directly struck the front porch of the Whimsy building damaging the fence, shrubs and the historic front wrap around porch. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the porch roof was also compromised. Thus, the entire porch would need to be demolished and rebuilt.

This Go Fund Me fundraiser is an effort to not only save an historic Harwich home, the home of former Sea Captain - Captain Erastious Chase, but also to support and honor a thriving business, as well as a gathering place and retreat for women. Whimsy is Beth Pedicini's lifelong dream and livelihood; she doesn't just operate a woman's clothing store for her own income - her shop supports thousands of others, as well as the local year-round residents and economy.

The Whimsy experience is rather unique. The building itself holds such a rich history, the architecture of each room has it's own ambiance, each adorned with the colorful eclectic merchandise. It's a whole visceral experience with a certain artistic, healing vibe - that you leave feeling better than when you walked in, even if you don't buy anything.

Greeted by Beth and her wonderful Team (and sometimes her dog Tessa, too!), you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door. From her carefully chosen music play list, to her custom complete outfit displays - Beth's mission, is to make sure you feel good as you meander from room to room, delighting all your senses as if you are walking through a carefully curated art gallery.

No conscientious, hardworking, responsible, compassionate, dedicated business owner deserves to suffer a severe financial setback due to another person's irresponsibility and negligence.
There will likely be a discrepancy, a sizable shortfall (somewhere between $25,000 - $50,000) between what the insurance companies will reimburse for the reconstruction, versus the total cost of the entire reconstruction project, in addition to lost income, lost business days, having to close the shop due to the reduced space for parking.

Thus, a small group of concerned, friends, neighbors, colleagues & customers are launching this GoFundMe fundraiser, in an effort to support Beth, as she navigates her way through this financially challenging time. Our goal is to ensure that Beth & Whimsy successfully rebound and continue to thrive. If we can raise between $25,000 - $30,000, we know she will rebound.

We ask all of you, during this season of giving, if you would kindly consider contributing whatever you can to the fundraiser, so we can meet our goal in helping save a local cherished business and the livelihood of our friend, Beth Pedicini.

With much gratitude,
Some caring Friends, Colleagues & Customers of Beth Pedicini & Whimsy
