We are a team of Master’s students studying MedTech Innovation and Design at the University of Southampton, and as part of a university fundraising competition, we are raising money for Southampton Sight (registered as Southampton Society for the Blind) , a local charity supporting people who are blind or visually impaired.

As future healthcare innovators, our studies are centred around understanding people’s needs and designing solutions that can make a meaningful difference to their lives. This challenge gives us an opportunity to take that thinking beyond the classroom and support an organisation already making a real impact in the community.

Why Southampton Sight?

Sight loss can affect far more than a person’s vision. It can influence independence, confidence, social connection and the ability to carry out everyday activities.

Southampton Sight provides vital support to people living with sight loss, helping them navigate these challenges and live as independently as possible.

We want our fundraising to contribute to that work and, importantly, help raise awareness of the difference that local organisations like Southampton Sight make every day.

Our Challenge

We are competing against other university teams to raise as much as possible for our chosen cause.

And we don't have long.

Our fundraising deadline is 3:00 PM on 25 September.

That means every donation made before the deadline counts towards our challenge — whether it’s £2, £5, £10 or more.

Small contributions quickly add up, especially when lots of people get involved.
