Hi, my name is Mackenzie. I’m honored to call Shala not only my coworker but also a dear friend. I'm organizing this fundraiser on her behalf because right now, she needs our love, support, and help more than ever.

After four long years of ongoing health challenges, Shala underwent emergency surgery in June 2024. We were all hopeful that it would bring relief, but life had other plans. On March 13, 2025, Shala received the devastating news that she has endometrial cancer.

She finally met with an oncologist on June 23, 2025, and now faces more tests and another major surgery scheduled for July 25. This diagnosis has taken a deep toll—physically, emotionally, and financially. With no health insurance, the upcoming surgery alone will cost over $12,000, not including the cost of necessary tests, future treatments, or the months of recovery that lie ahead.

To make matters harder, Shala also lost her biggest supporter—her beloved mom—in October 2024. She’s facing all of this without the person she leaned on the most.

We want to show Shala that she’s not alone—that her community is here, standing beside her. This fundraiser will help cover not only medical costs but also essential living expenses like rent, car insurance, phone bills, and groceries while she’s out of work during recovery.
