Help Us Support Our Miracle Baby Sofia
On the 28th of July, our lives changed forever.
Jeb’s waters broke unexpectedly, and we rushed to hospital. She laboured to 10cm dilation, but our baby’s heart rate dropped she needed to come out. In that terrifying moment, doctors discovered Jeb had suffered a uterine rupture — a rare and life-threatening complication that occurs in just 0.5% of pregnancies.
An emergency caesarean was performed at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester. Our baby girl, Sofia, was born with a heartbeat but barely breathing. In those first moments, the room was silent. We didn’t hear our baby cry — something every parent dreams of hearing — just silence, as doctors and nurses worked desperately to save her. She was immediately rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Queen Alexandra Hospital while Jeb remained in Chichester for urgent surgery and care.
Sofia had to be placed on a ventilator and undergo brain monitoring. She has been diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) — a condition caused by oxygen loss to the brain. HIE can vary greatly in its impact, and there is still much that is unknown about her future. She has already experienced seizures and remains in NICU, where she is receiving round-the-clock care.
We are still waiting for answers from specialists, but we do know this: Sofia is already a miracle. She survived against the odds and continues to fight every day. Her middle name, Dua, means “prayer” — and it’s our prayers and hope that keeps us going through this difficult time. We are so grateful to God for giving her a chance at life.
Our family is now facing a long, uncertain road ahead — countless hospital visits, ongoing specialist care, therapy, and the possibility of lifelong medical needs. Jordan has been balancing home life, hospital visits, and caring for our son Mahli, while Jeb has remained in hospital. Life has been overwhelming, and every ounce of our energy is focused on Sofia’s recovery.
We are reaching out because we need help. Donations will go towards:
- Travel costs to and from the hospital
- Meals during Sofia’s NICU stay
- Specialist medical appointments and therapies
- Nursery fees for Mahli, so he can have stability and a sense of normal life alongside Sofia’s care
- Support for Mahli to ensure he still gets the time, attention, and opportunities he deserves during this difficult time
- Covering loss of income — both Jordan and Jeb are self-employed and while taking time off to care for Sofia and recover from this ordeal
If you are able to contribute, no matter the amount, it will help us give Sofia the best possible start in life. If you cannot donate, we would be so grateful if you could share our story and keep Sofia in your prayers.
This GoFundMe isn’t just about support, It’s also about raising awareness of uterine rupture and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy). Too many mothers and families go through these traumatic experiences in silence, feeling isolated and alone. By sharing this journey, I hope to spread awareness, offer comfort, and remind every parent who has faced this that you are not alone.
Our miracle girl Sofia — born Tuesday, 29th July — has already shown incredible strength. We believe in her and will fight alongside her every step of the way.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support
With love,
Jeb & Jordan x
