Jamaica is home. Jamaica is life, love, and kindness. And although they are one of the strongest communities I know, they need our help to not only stay fed and to rebuild but also to aid in keeping their amazing spirits up and their energy positive. Hurricane Melissa has devastated Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, where most of family resides - along with much of Jamaica. You can see from the pictures here, what physical and emotional damage the hurricane has done. You can also see the love from my cousins, aunties, uncle and my mom from when the skies were clear and smiles were bright. We need to get back there, and we need your support.
A major section of our aunt Nadia’s roof was torn off and needs repairing. Many friends and neighbors from Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth to Dunder Hill to Black River, have even worse damage. St. Anne’s School, where my mom and her siblings attended school as kids in Kingston also has a lot of damage and we have been helping as much as we can from here. All of the parishes in Jamaica have been incredible with loving and taking care of one another but they also need assistance from us. From everyone. We’re asking for you to help with whatever you are able to afford at this time, so we can help rebuild our remarkable Jamaican communities.
