Our beautiful boy, Nayirr, is three years old. Just days ago our world changed when he was diagnosed withB-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (B:ALL).
He has already begun treatment, and while the doctors are confident and hopeful for his long-term recovery, this will be a long and difficult journey for him, and for us as a family.
We are still in shock and learning how to live in this new reality. Right now our focus is on keeping Nayirr safe, comfortable, and surrounded by love.
Many of you have reached out, and we are deeply grateful. Please know that your care means the world to us. We aren’t able to take phone calls or respond to messages right now. We're overwhelmed and doing everything we can to stay steady for Nayirr.
For questions, updates, or to send messages of support, we’ll keep this GoFundMe page up to date. You can also contact:

A Note on Visitors
Nayirr is immunosuppressed because his chemotherapy targets his neutrophils, the white blood cells that fight infection.
Please treat this like Covid-level safety:
• No visits if you’ve been unwell or exposed to anyone who is sick.
• Wait at least 48 hours (2 days) after any illness before visiting.
• If children visit, doctors prefer visits outside only.
• No visits to shops or crowded places beforehand.
• Please maintain social distancing.
Even a common cold or mild virus could mean an emergency hospital visit for Nayirr. A single temperature reading of 38°C results in immediate hospital admission for intravenous medication.
We’ll be keeping visitors to a minimum to reduce risks. Thank you for respecting these boundaries and helping us keep our little boy safe.

How You Can Help
1. Care and Life at Home
We’re gathering a small crew to help with everyday things, caring for baby #2, cleaning, laundry, groceries, and all the invisible work that keeps life running.
If you’d like to be part of this crew, please contact Merindah Donnelly, who is coordinating support.
Download the Gather My Crew app to be added to the team and receive updates or requests.
2. Food Train
Warm meals, snacks for hospital days, or grocery deliveries make a huge difference. They help keep us nourished and give us one less thing to think about.
If you’d like to join the food train, please reach out to Ali and Georgia.
Download the Gather My Crew app to join and stay updated. Note: drop-offs will likely be contactless.
3. Financial Support
Because Nayirr can’t attend daycare for at least the first nine months, he’ll need full-time care at home.
For those who can’t help through care or food but still want to do something, we’ve set up this GoFundMe.
If you have questions, contact Jessica Olivieri.
There is absolutely no expectation or obligation, this is only for those who want to and have capacity to contribute.
We also encourage donations to the incredible charities supporting families living with childhood cancer, such as Redkite and Cancer Council NSW.
Your kindness, strength, and understanding are carrying us through this time. We believe in our boy and in the care he’s receiving. Nayirr is strong, brave, and already showing us what resilience looks like.
Thank you for walking alongside us.
With gratitude,
Hannah and Omar
