Hi ours names are Ash and Tay,
If you know Nicole, you know she would never ask for help herself. She is always the first to show up when someone needs support. She gives endlessly — often quietly, without recognition, and never expecting anything in return.
Through her years volunteering with the ambulance service in Albany and the Great Southern WA, giving back to her community, and being the person who goes above and beyond for absolutely anyone, Nicole has spent her life caring for others.
Now it’s our turn to care for her.
Nicole has faced more battles than most of us could ever imagine, yet she continues to meet each one with courage, grace and determination.
Her journey has included:
1998 – Diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Carcinoma
1999 – Double mastectomy
Cancer returned in her left axilla, followed by chemotherapy and radiation
16–17 years of remission before cancer returned
Another diagnosis of invasive carcinoma on the scar line
Another double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery
6 months of chemotherapy
February 2022 – Diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer to the bones
Radiotherapy to her spine and right hip
Ongoing hormonal and targeted therapy
Four surgeries on her eyesight
And now, severe lymphedema in her left arm requiring constant treatment, wrapping, physiotherapy and deep muscle massage.
This latest diagnosis has dramatically affected Nicole’s physical and mental health, impacting her daily life in ways most people never see.
But there is hope.
After seeing a specialist plastic surgeon, Nicole has been told she is an excellent candidate for life‑changing lymphatic surgery. This procedure could significantly improve her quality of life and reduce the daily burden of living with lymphedema.
The challenge is the cost.
Even with private health insurance, the surgeon is not covered under a no‑gap arrangement,
leaving $25,000 out of pocket:
• $15,000 for surgery
• $10,000 for the anaesthetist
And this doesn’t include the additional financial strain of travel, accommodation, general living costs, Pete taking time off work to support Nicole before and after surgery, or their mortgage. We have tried to consider all of these expenses, as well as any unexpected circumstances that may arise.
Nicole and Peter are already doing it tough financially, and this is simply not something they can manage without taking on significant debt.
As Nicole’s friends, we want to lift this burden so she can focus on what matters most: her health, her treatment and her family — not financial stress.
If Nicole has ever touched your life, supported your family, volunteered in your community, or simply shown you kindness when you needed it most, this is our chance to give some of that love back.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help bring Nicole closer to the surgery she desperately needs.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this page means just as much.
Let’s show Nicole the same love, strength and generosity she has shown so many others over the years.
Thank you for supporting our beautiful friend.
