My wife was born with Chiari malformation. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a condition in which the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. It occurs when part of the skull is abnormally small. The severity of hers is such that only 1 in 20 people have it. It has been a long journey back and forth with doctors, and it's usually only found if you have some type of head trauma. She was in a car accident, and they did MRIs and found the Chiari. Then an altercation occurred a few months later, so she also has a lot of fluid building up in her spinal canal and eyes. She was referred to the Ohio State specialist.

We went for the consultation, and they told her it is urgent and needs it done ASAP. We have 2 little children and little to no money. My work will let me take some time off for her recovery, but they will not pay me for my time off. Since the surgery was scheduled so soon, we have no way of getting any expenses for the copays, medical bills, rent, or any other expenses we will have. We will be 2 hours away from home for about a week or so.
