Help Us Support Mum: Quadriplegic After Spinal Injury
Donation protected
In May, our beautiful mum suffered a life-changing accident resulting in an incomplete C5 spinal injury, leaving her a quadriplegic with the inability to stand, walk or use her hands for fine motor skills. After emergency spinal surgery at Royal Perth Hospital and time in the ICU, she was transferred to Fiona Stanley State Rehabilitation Unit, where she spent 7 challenging months in hospital.
Despite her determination and the exceptional care she received, her progress has been minimal. As a single mother, she now requires 24-hour care to assist with her daily needs, including bladder and bowel management. This injury has had a devastating and lifelong impact on her independence and quality of life.
We refuse to lose hope and are committed to giving Mum the best chance at improving her function and comfort. However, the road ahead is overwhelming. She needs:
• An intensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy program, but her current NDIS plan only allocates 18 hours of “maintenance” rehab in 2025, which is not sufficient if she is to gain function and improve her quality of life.
• A $30,000 electric wheelchair to regain some independence.
• Significant home modifications to ensure safety and accessibility.
Adding to this, Mum is at risk of losing her family home due to her inability to work and the mounting financial pressures. Tragically, she was unable to secure permanent disability or salary protection, leaving her in an incredibly vulnerable position.
Mum has always been the most loving and selfless person, putting everyone else first. We are reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals to help us raise the funds needed to support her journey. Every contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in her life.
Thank you for your generosity and love during this difficult time. Together, we can give Mum the support she deserves.
With gratitude,
