Gus is more than just our dog, he is truly family, and he has become a source of comfort, joy, and healing for so many others.

Just a few days before Ryan and I were supposed to leave for our honeymoon to Italy, we noticed that Gus wasn’t feeling his best. Without hesitation, we made the easy decision to stay home and care for him. After many visits to the emergency vet, we received the heartbreaking news that Gus, at only 4 years old, had developed large cell lymphoma which is a form of cancer. The diagnosis was devastating. But with the support of our family and close friends, we have felt deeply blessed and cared for.

Now, we are turning all of our energy toward Gus’s recovery. He has already begun his treatment, and we remain hopeful and positive about the road ahead.

Many in this community know Gus, along with his siblings Woodsey Burns and Sedona, as the beloved (and often comical) “therapy pups” who work alongside me at the therapy office, Generazzo Therapy. They are often the first to greet children and teens, bringing comfort, laughter, and unconditional love on some of their hardest days.

Gus, especially, has been my guardian angel during some of my own most challenging moments. He has this remarkable ability to heal others with just one look from his sweet, human-like eyes. Children are his passion. He has let countless little ones play Barbie dolls on his belly while he naps beside them, dressed up in outfits, and joining right in during play therapy. He is not just my sweet dog, but truly one of the greatest lights of my life.

With this unexpected diagnosis, the cancellation of our honeymoon, and the mounting vet bills that followed, we are reaching out for support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward Gus’s chemo treatment so he can continue to be there for the kids, teens, and families he loves so much.
