Hello, my name is Emily.

I’m starting this fundraiser as the last thing I can think of to help take even a small amount of stress away from my stepdad, David, and my mum.

Last year, David was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 tongue cancer. Since then, he has been undergoing immunotherapy and relying on pain medication to keep him as comfortable as possible. Making this time even more precious and difficult for all of us.

David has always been a strong, independent man. He runs his own locksmith business — just one of many ventures he’s built over the years — and has always worked incredibly hard to provide for his family. Sadly, as his health has declined, it’s become more and more difficult for him to go out and complete jobs. He is the sole worker in his business, so when he can’t work, there is no income coming in.

More than anything, David is a wonderful partner and stepdad. He has always been there for my brother and me, supporting us, guiding us, and treating us as his own. He has stood by my mum through everything, always putting his family first. He is the kind of man who quietly helps others without ever asking for anything in return, and it’s heartbreaking to see him going through this.

My mum works full-time as a nursery assistant, but she’s struggling to manage all of her shifts while also caring for David and taking him to and from appointments. She is doing everything she can, but the pressure is overwhelming.

I’m hoping to raise some funds to help ease the financial burden they are facing. Mortgage payments, household bills, and food shopping should be the last things they have to worry about while navigating this devastating illness.

Any money raised will go directly towards their mortgage, bills, and daily living expenses.
