We have held off on doing this as we were told no numerous times by Boo as she refuses to ask for help. As her lifelong friends and family, we can't sit by and do nothing anymore and are going against her wishes.

We will try to make this as short as possible but it is absolutely not the easiest process to understand. Boo was born with heart condition that did not present itself until she was a young teen. (Long QT Syndrome) At this time, she thankfully was in the hospital when a very critical heart episode occurred that if at home could have taken her life. She was put on a daily medicine to try and hold off on placing a defibrillator/pacemaker device into her as a young girl. This medicine worked to prevent these episodes from happening.

Over the last couple of years, this medicine has seemed to not be working as well. She has continued with doctors locally with her check ups, taken care of herself and made sure to do as directed for her heart care. However, on April 14, 2025, while watching her nephews play baseball, one of these episodes hit out of nowhere. Boo was placed in CCU and had no choice but to have a defibrillator / pace maker placed into her chest.

Here's where we need help. This deviceor an updated version of one) will now be with her for the rest of her life). The use of this unit is to either regulate her heart to prevent the episode and / or shock her heart back into rhythmif she did have an episode. However, her body still does not feel better. She has seen all the local specialists but due to her condition not being a common problem amount people her age, they have done all they can do for her here.

Boo will be traveling to the Mayo Clinic at the beginning of September. There, they have specific Long QT specialists and she will spend an entire week running tests, meeting with doctors and trying to figure out how to give her the best quality of life possible. While some of the tests can be done before hand here with insurance, the week itself is not covered by her insurance and will be fully out of pocket. Estimated costs right now are roughly $10,000. This does not include airfare nor time out of work. She is completely self employed and support herself.

Thank you for any and all support you are willing to provide. We are so thankful for each and every one of you! Love to all! Shana and Jessica
