Help us support baby Jolie Ann

Donation protected
Baby Jolie, 11 months, was admitted to Texas Children’s hospital on New Year’s Eve (you can read Ashley’s account below) and her spinal tap has confirmed she is battling Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a rare and very serious bacterial form of meningitis with only about 1,000 cases a year in the U.S.

Ashley and Dave are so thankful for your thoughts, prayers, and continued emotional support. We are all feeling helpless during this scary time and searching for any small measure that can ease their burden. Jolie is showing small signs of progress and we are hoping and praying for a miracle—but we do not know what the future holds for her. We’d like to offset the financial difficulties that the family has already encountered and will see in the future including medical bills, ICU stays, and associated expenses. Please consider donating to help this amazing family and support Jolie’s fight for recovery as well as your continued prayers. We are taking it day by day, minute by minute, and celebrating the small victories. Jolie is in the best hospital with some of the best doctors in the nation--and for that we are grateful.

First journal entry from Ashley and Dave below:

"I am at a loss for words but I will try my best as I know we have so many family and friends praying for Jolie and wanting to have an idea of what she is going through.

On New Years Eve, she was not herself and extremely attached (did not want to be put down for even a second) as she begin to show a fever we took her to urgent care, tests were done for various things and it was determine something viral specifically bronchitis. We were informed to keep up with our ibuprofen and Tylenol routine and it would play it’s course. As the night progressed, she continued to be out of it so we decided to take her to the Texas Childrens ER near our house after discussing with her pediatrician. From about 8pm-12:30 am the ER ran a bunch of tests, gave her an ivy she was drinking and we were discharged as again was chalked up to something viral after eliminating a few possibilities of concern. We got home and within hours our baby girl broke out in a horrible purple rash and blotches all over her body ..it was gut wrenching and we went back to the ER.

As soon as we got there she was rushed in and immediately hooked to everything imaginable.  After grueling hours she is critically ill and has been in the ICU due to septic shock, acute kidney injury, meningitis, DIC and a list of other medical complexities. The CAT scan early results show no bleeding in the brain which is a huge relief. However she is fighting hard she is on a breathing tube and sedated as the doctors have worked tirelessly to help her pump blood through her body, keep her temps down and several other medications to keep her little body fighting.

We were also transferred to the downtown Texas Childrens Hospital late last night so she can be in a place that can perform dialysis as she is not urinating and retaining the liquids they are needing to give her. She did great and she remained as stable as possible. However we ask for your prayers, she’s so strong and we need her to keep fighting. Although there are positives our little Jolie is very very sick. Her organs are struggling especially her kidneys and the blood clots are concerning.

Please know we believe in miracles, positive thoughts and the power of prayer so if you could keep her in your continued prayers we would really appreciate it.

These pics are hard for me to look at but I will be strong for my little fighter. I know she can do this and we just need your continued prayers. We are taking day by day, minute by minute. we are in the best hospital with some of the best doctors in the nation and right now we are going to focus on only our daughter and son."
