My name is Megan, and I am asking for help in supporting my son while he recovers from major surgery and goes through a long recovery process.
On Wednesday, January 10th our son, Ayden, began to tingle in his right leg and lose movement in his right arm. After a trip to the dr, we were told to follow up with a neurologist unless anything drastic changed.
During the night, things progressed quickly so we carried him to Huntsville Hospital Women’s and Children’s ER. We spent most of the day there, but we were finally transferred by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. He was placed in the PICU due to a malformation of blood vessels pressing on his cervical spine. The quickness at which his weakness and numbness moved was worrisome and by the morning of the 12th, he had lost all control of his limbs and most feeling in them as well.
An exploratory procedure was planned for Saturday the 13th, but when they got in to assess the situation, they saw how serious it was and intervened immediately. They are positive and hopeful for a complete recovery, but it is going to be a long road.
We are a single income family, and since I’m away from home now, at the hospital with Ayden, that income is significantly diminished. We need help with basic bills and day to day things until we can get our boy back on his feet and home again.
We will be using the money for food and toiletries, here at the hospital, and to send back home to help care for our other two kids and our bills. We have an amazing support system who is helping take care of our other son and daughter, we just need a bit of extra support with money so we’re able to be where we need to be for Ayden while he goes through this intense recovery.
