Help Us Support a Loving Mom’s Fight Against Cancer

Hi, my name is Christian Cuellar and I am reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for help for my amazing mom, Cristina Perez.

A few weeks ago, our world was completely turned upside down. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. It is something you never think will happen to your family until it does. The fear and heartbreak has been overwhelming, and now we are faced with the added burden of trying to pay for treatment with no insurance.

My mom has always been the heart of our home. A devoted stay-at-home mom, she has spent her life loving and caring for our family and everyone lucky enough to know her. She is the kind of person who remembers birthdays, calls just to check in, and makes sure everyone feels seen and cared for. Her joy is contagious, and her presence brings warmth wherever she goes.

She has family in North Carolina that she adores, and one of her greatest joys in life has been traveling to visit them and explore new places. Her spirit is full of life and love, and she has always made it a point to live fully and embrace each moment with laughter and light.

Now, as we face this heartbreaking diagnosis, we are also trying to manage the crushing financial burden of hospital stays, emergency visits, medications, and treatment without the help of insurance. Even with the support of our entire family, the costs are simply too overwhelming. No one should have to carry this kind of stress while also fighting for their life.

She is deeply loved. Family, friends, and everyone who knows her can tell you she is someone special. The love she shares with my dad is something rare and beautiful, a bond so strong and unwavering it is the kind of love people spend their whole lives searching for. Watching them hold each other up through this has been both beautiful and devastating. No family that loves this deeply should have to choose between care and cost.

We are still holding on to hope. We want to focus on making memories, cherishing each day, and helping her stay as strong as possible. But the truth is, we cannot do this alone. We need help. Hace unas semanas, nuestra vida dio un giro por completo. A mi mamá le diagnosticaron cáncer de estómago en etapa 4. Es algo que nunca piensas que le pasará a tu familia, hasta que sucede. El miedo y la tristeza han sido abrumadores, y ahora también enfrentamos la carga de tener que pagar el tratamiento sin ningún tipo de seguro médico.

Mi mamá siempre ha sido el corazón de nuestro hogar. Ama de casa dedicada, ha pasado su vida cuidando y entregando amor a nuestra familia y a todos los que han tenido la suerte de conocerla. Es de esas personas que se acuerdan de los cumpleaños, llaman solo para saber cómo estás y siempre hacen que los demás se sientan vistos, escuchados y queridos. Su alegría es contagiosa y su presencia llena cualquier espacio de calidez.

Tiene familia en Carolina del Norte a la que adora, y uno de sus mayores placeres ha sido viajar para visitarlos y conocer nuevos lugares. Su espíritu está lleno de vida y amor, y siempre ha procurado vivir al máximo, disfrutando cada momento con risa y luz.

Ahora, al enfrentar este diagnóstico tan doloroso, también tratamos de sobrellevar el peso aplastante de los gastos médicos: hospitalizaciones, emergencias, medicamentos y tratamientos… todo sin el respaldo de un seguro. Incluso con el apoyo de toda nuestra familia, los costos son simplemente inalcanzables. Nadie debería tener que cargar con este tipo de estrés mientras lucha por su vida.

Mi mamá es profundamente amada. Familiares, amigos y cualquiera que la conozca puede decir que es una persona especial. El amor que comparte con mi papá es algo único y hermoso, un lazo tan fuerte e inquebrantable que es el tipo de amor que mucha gente pasa la vida entera buscando. Ver cómo se apoyan el uno al otro durante todo esto ha sido a la vez desgarrador y profundamente conmovedor. Ninguna familia que se ama así debería tener que escoger entre la salud y el dinero.

Seguimos aferrados a la esperanza. Queremos enfocarnos en crear recuerdos, en atesorar cada día y ayudarla a mantenerse fuerte el mayor tiempo posible. Pero la realidad es que no podemos hacerlo solos. Necesitamos ayuda. Si estás en posibilidad de donar, cualquier cantidad, por pequeña que sea, irá directamente a cubrir sus cuidados médicos y aliviar un poco esta carga. Y si en este momento no puedes dar, te pedimos de corazón que compartas su historia.
