My father, William Lewis, a devoted family man and proud military veteran, now finds himself in a battle for his life, and we are asking for your support. He has always been the steady anchor of our family, caring for us with unshakable love and dedication. Now, it's our turn to care for him.

The Urgent Situation

In recent years, my father’s health has rapidly declined. He now faces the need for a multivisceral transplant—an intricate and life-saving surgery to replace several abdominal organs, including the stomach, liver, intestines, pancreas, and kidneys. This complex procedure is often the last hope for patients suffering from severe, multi-organ failure.

Thankfully, his surgery will be performed by the esteemed transplant team at UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), one of the world’s foremost centers for organ transplantation. While we are confident in the exceptional care UPMC provides, the financial burden of this critical surgery is overwhelming.

Due to his illness, my father has been unable to work, relying entirely on my stepmother for full-time care, health insurance, and medical support. As his condition worsens, the financial strain on our family has increased, making it difficult to manage everyday expenses.

Understanding the Transplant

A multivisceral transplant is among the most challenging and specialized surgeries in the medical world. It’s typically reserved for patients with extensive disease affecting multiple abdominal organs. The procedure requires an expert surgical team and lengthy postoperative care, including ongoing monitoring and immunosuppressive therapy to prevent organ rejection.

For more detailed information about multivisceral transplants, you can visit the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) website. UNOS is responsible for managing the U.S. organ transplant system and offers vital support to families navigating the transplant process.

The Mounting Costs

The financial toll is immense, including:

Medical Expenses: Surgery, hospital stays, medications, and frequent doctor visits.
Living Costs: Covering daily expenses, which are increasingly hard to manage as my father remains unable to work.
Caregiver Expenses: Securing a full-time caregiver to ensure my father receives the specialized care he needs.
How You Can Help

We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community for help. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make an incredible difference. Your generosity will go toward covering the overwhelming medical bills and ensuring my father gets the care he urgently needs.

A Hero in Need

My father has always been our hero—both as a military veteran and as the loving man who has stood by us in every moment. Now, he needs us more than ever. With your help, we can give him the opportunity to live a healthier, happier life.
