"Stand-Up" - Short film

Written by Cian Nugent and Directed Will Nother. Stand up is a story that’s been in the works for over six months, and is ready for the world to see. With a full crew on board and ready to go, (Will Nother, Cian Nugent, Alex Renée, Miguel Lau, Aleksa Trkulja) all we need is your help to get us started.

Stand-Up is a Comedy-Drama, exploring themes of anxiety, fear, and self acceptance. The film centres around Christopher, an aspiring stand-up comedian, in pursuit of making it big in the cutthroat Dublin comedy scene. As he nervously awaits his moment in the spotlight, the young comic finds himself overwhelmed by panic led by the fear of becoming the next infamous comedian

Our writer Cian Nugent initially came up with this idea around 3 years ago, with the hopes of one day making it a reality. Cian is an ambitions young writer trying to breakout in the Irish filmmaking scene. He has perviously co-wrote a short film called “SeaBirds”, which was also Directed by Will Nother. Our Director Will, Is a passionate aspiring filmmaker who has directed multiple short films. Will is also a Dublin Based stand comedian, who knows the stand up world inside and out. Its Will’s mission to use this short film to bring a spotlight to the Dublin comedy scene and to showcase its amazing talents.

This is a project that we have been working incredibly hard on, and we would love to give it the treatment that it deserves, with the intentions of screening it in a number of film festivals around the world.

Any donations made towards our film will be put to good use. Such as paying actors, locations, crew, props, costume and equipment. For those who donate, your name will be added to the credits, as a thank you for your support.

This film is also part of our Films school course, However we intend for it to be more than just a film school project. At the end off our academic year, the film will be played in the lighthouse for all to see
